Pachacamac Archaeological Site

Begin the tour in Barranco, Lima’s most bohemian suburb. We will see Barranco’s Central Park, the Municipal Library, the traditional Bridge of Sighs, the colonial homes, and its famous boulevard. Next, we will drive down the South Pacific Coast Highway to Pachacamac, the most important ceremonial center on the Peruvian coast during pre-Inca and Inca times. Throughout the centuries, Pachacamac was occupied by many different Andean civilizations such as the Lima’s, the Wari, the Ichma’s, and finally by the Inca Empire. However, the Pachacamac Oracle always remained a religious center. We will see several pyramidal temples and enclosures from different periods: the Adobitos & Old Temple (I C. A.D.), the painted Temple (VIII C. A.D.), a pyramid with a ramp (XIII C. A.D) & the Temple of the Sun (XV C. A.D.). Besides the ruins, we will also visit an on-site museum displaying pottery, textiles, shell and stone ornaments, as well as the wooden Pachacamac idol found during excavations (1938)

Palomino Islands Wildlife Cruise

Embark on a thrilling boat tour to the Palomino Islands, home to diverse marine life, including sea lions and seabirds. Palomino Islands is one of the most excellent side excursions you can take while in Lima. Lima by Bike: Miraflores, Barranco and Beyond

Starting from the meeting point in Miraflores, cruise along bike paths to explore Barranco. After a short safety briefing from your instructor, start your 3-hour guided tour. See picturesque old streets and feel the sea breeze in your hair. Stop at the famous Bridge of Sighs to make a wish.

In Miraflores, you'll learn about La Huaca Pucllana and Itchma, the pre-Inca civilization that existed in the area from around 300 to 700 A.D. Start 05:00am for a 03:30-hour journey to Paracas town to make our way to the dock where you will board a speedboat to the Ballestas Islands. During your journey to Ballestas, see the enigmatic figure of the Candelabro, a stunning design drawn on the side of a hill in the Peninsula. In the Ballestas Islands, you will see a stunningly rugged world filled with birds and sea lions. Islas Ballestas of Peru charm all wildlife observers and rightfully so. Considered the “Peruvian Galapagos,” they boast a huge collection of protected species. Red boobies, pelicans, red-footed cormorants and turkey vultures reign over this region.

You will navigate around the islands at a distance allowed, and depending on the sea conditions, visit nearby caves. The next destination is Huacachina oasis where you can board a buggy for 1-hour adventure across the sand dunes.
